Doris J. (Mathieu) Lees, “Dolly,” age 87, of Swansea, passed away Saturday, April 13, 2019 in Clifton Rehabilitation Nursing Center surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Wright F. Lees Jr.
Born in Nasonville, Rhode Island, a daughter of the late Napoleon and Anna (Shea) Mathieu, she was a longtime resident of Swansea.
Mrs. Lees was a graduate of Woonsocket High School. In addition to being a homemaker, she worked at K Mart in Swansea for many years. She was a member of the former United Church of Christ in Fall River. An avid gardener, she enjoyed taking bus trips to Atlantic City.
She is survived by one son, Wright F. “Scott” Lees III and his wife Lisa of Swansea; one daughter, Donna DeSimas and her husband Tony of Riverside, RI; two granddaughters, Heidi DeMedeiros and her husband Edwin of Fall River, Anna DeSimas of Riverside, RI; one great-granddaughter, Haley DeMedeiros and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Ann Karam, Buddy Mathieu and Mary Allard.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at 9:30AM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Birchcrest, 189 Gardners Neck Road, Swansea. Relatives and friends invited. Visitation will be held prior to her Service from 8:00 to 9:30AM. Flowers welcome or contributions in her honor may be made to the Swansea Ambulance Corps, 285 Wilbur Avenue, Swansea, MA 02777. Burial private.
