Algie passed away peacefully April 18, 2019 at home surrounded by his wife and daughter. He never complained as he went through his year long journey with grace and dignity, never wavering in his faith.
Algie was an amazing person who impacted everyone he met through his love, humor, wisdom, strong faith, and friendly outlook on life. He was the best husband, father, and grandpa ever! He truly loved the Lord, his wife, daughter and son in law, his two grandchildren and friends beyond definition.
Algie was born in Doniphan, Mo October 26, 1942 to Algie and Jessie Farr. He spent his childhood in Council Bluff, Iowa, graduating from Thomas Jefferson High School. In 1961 he enlisted in the United States Navy where he served during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1965.
He married the love of his life in 1964. During their life together they enjoyed traveling, hiking, hosting dinner parties, going to plays, and enjoying life. They had one child, Theresa.
Algie retired from Navistar after 34 years of service. During this time, he received many sales awards and recognitions. He worked in sales for Fed Ex for 16 years. He retired in May 2016.
Algie attended Desert Springs Church and Spirit of Life Christian Center. Throughout his years he served as adult and children’s Sunday school teacher, Sunday school superintendent, board member, started a bus ministry and overseen the building of a new church.
Algie leaves behind his wife Pat of Queen Creek. His daughter Theresa Culey (Steve) of Kansas. Grandchildren, Tyler and Brianna of Kansas. Two sisters; Roberta Hood (Ernie), Judy Fuller (Jerry) of Iowa. Many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and nephew.
When He took his last breath, he was instantly in the arms of Jesus. “Well done good and faithful servant” was the first greeting he heard as he bowed humbly before his Almighty Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
