Donald Louis Janeski, Sr, 95, of Kansas City, MO passed away Thursday, April 25, 2019 at home. Funeral service will be held 1pm Monday, April 29th at the Souls Harbour Church, 17142 E. 39th St. Independence, MO with the visitation two hours prior. Burial in the Mound Grove Cemetery with full military honors.
Don was born July 7, 1923 in Brady, NE to Edward L. and Ruby (Hoglan) Janeski. He moved to the Kansas City area after serving in the U.S. Navy during WWII and married Mary Sedgwick in 1955. Don was a lifetime member of the AM VETS, the VFW and the American Legion. He retired after 20 plus years of service as a truck driver for Greenfield Transport. Don was a “workaholic” before and after his retirement. He never met a stranger and always loved a good conversation.
Don is preceded in death by his children: Diann Cox, Robert Cox, Roxann Cox, Sharon Balding; two brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary of the home; daughters: Ruth Cox, Shirley Cox, Donna Janeski, Tammy Janeski, Joann Rapp and Janette Nail; his sons: Don Janeski, Jr., Mike Janeski, Don Tupis, and Gary; one sister, Beverly Kitzing; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
