She was born Jeanette Louise Johnson on June 20, 1925 to Leon and Helen (Pond) Johnson. She resided in Hunter, New York in the beautiful Catskill Mountains with her family until she began nursing school, followed by training at Columbia University Dental School to be a dental hygienist. She worked in New York City and Rochester, New York as a dental hygienist before raising her family full time.
Jeannette married Richard Wissell in June of 1947 in Windham, New York. They lived in Boulder, Colorado while Richard attended CU and raised their family in Rochester, New York. She enjoyed volunteer work at Irondequoit United Church of Christ and Friends of the Library. She was known for her pleasant nature, good humor, and devotion to her family. She is survived by her son, Stephen A. Wissell and daughter, Eileen D. Wissell; granddaughters, Tess, Kelly, and Carrie; grandson, Balin Aguirre, daughters-in-law, and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Wissell; son, Phillip Wissell; her parents, Leon and Helen (Pond) Johnson; her brothers Angelo, Alan, and Walter; and sister, Doris Huston.
A gathering of Jeannette's family and friends will be held Friday, May 17, 2019, from 3-6 p.m. at Allnutt Funeral Service in Fort Collins, 650 W. Drake Road.
