Johnny Hicks was born on November 9, 1947 the 4th born son of R.E. Hicks and Azree Henson Hicks in Coushatta Louisiana. Johnny accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at a very young age and was baptized at Zion Chapel Baptist Church in Coushatta Louisiana under the leadership of Reverend Clarence Berry. Johnny’s interest included fishing, baseball, and carpentry. Watching western movies and Super heroes on Saturday morning was pastimes that he also really enjoyed. Johnny attended public school at Springville High School in Coushatta until he decided that it was time to join the workforce. He wanted to see what else the world had to offer other than what he was used to seeing in his small town. At the tender age of 16 he did just that when he struck out to make his home in Houston Texas. When Johnny arrived in Houston he seized some of the many opportunities that the city had to offer. Some of which were jobs that included fields of restaurant, private investigation, and the Texas school system. Johnny was an entrepreneur true to heart and gave his all to whatever he set out to do.
He was preceded in death by his Father R. E. Hicks, his mother Azree Henson Hicks, 2 brothers Bobby Hicks and Will Hicks. He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife of 25 years Lorraine Watson Hicks, 6 children: Kiesha Hicks, Kacie Hicks, Akelia Simms, Sharifa Bonner, Kevin Watson, & Keyonda Watson, 8 Grandchildren; 1 brother Q.P. Hicks (Coushatta, La), Glenda Jean Hicks (Coushatta, La), and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
