OLD TOWN and EAST HAVEN, CT—Sharon Ann (Grant) Simmons, 57, died unexpectedly May 4, 2019 at Yale-New Haven (CT) Hospital. She was born, March 25, 1962, the only daughter of Clyde “Shammy” Sr. and Catherine (Beaulieu) Grant.
Sharon was a breast cancer survivor and advocate. She was always willing to lend a hand, an ear, or a shoulder to lean on. She worked tirelessly with at-risk youth at the Job Corps Center in New Haven, CT for the last 15 years.
Sharon is survived by her husband of 17 years, Anthony Simmons of East Haven, CT; two sons Kenneth “Shamus” Treadwell of Old Town and Damien Treadwell of Longview, TX, a grandson Donovan Treadwell; brother Joe Grant of Portland; two step children Michael Simmons and Katherine Simmons, both of the Bronx, NY.
She was predeceased by her parents on March 29, 2019, and a brother, Clyde Jr., in 1981.
A celebration of her life will be held 10am to 12 noon Friday May 31, 2019 at the Birmingham Funeral Home 438 Main St Old Town. A combined graveside service for Sharon and her parents, Shammy and Cathy Grant, will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
