Clark Arnett of Torrance, California, age 88, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, May 7, 2019, surrounded by his 3 children. He was born in Magoffin County, Kentucky, the son of Mort and Bessie (née Shepherd) Arnett, the second youngest of thirteen siblings. Clark was drafted into the United States Marines during the Korean War and had great respect for the armed forces. He opted to be stationed in Southern California, and soon fell in love with the constant sunshine and mild climate, prompting him to stay and make California his home. Clark worked for thirty years in the aerospace industry, finally retiring in 1995. He was a firm believer in working hard and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. He loved his home, and could often be heard telling his brother Claude how happy he was that they did so well for themselves despite the challenges of their younger lives.
Surviving are his three children: Diana (Justin), Christopher, and Christine (Beth); and four grandchildren: Emily, Chloe, Beau, and Suraj. He is also survived by his brother Claude. Clark will also be forever remembered by his numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his siblings: Queen, Lee, Mort Joe (Junior), Clay, Clyde, Minnie, Maggie, Sarah, Charity, Bonnie, and Grace.
A funeral service followed by a reception will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, May 30th, at the Halverson, Stone, and Myers Mortuary in Torrance, where Diana and Christopher will receive family and friends. On the following day, Friday, May 31st at 12:00pm, there will be a rendering of military funeral honors in acknowledgment of Clark’s service in the United States Marines Corps, held at the Riverside National Cemetery. All attendees are requested to meet 30 minutes prior at Staging Area Five.
