Donald “Don” Charles Bouchard, 70, of Old Saybrook passed away on May 8, 2019. He was born in the Bronx, New York to Edward and Virginia (Vath) Bouchard. He was a loving father, grandfather, and very involved in his daughter's and granddaughter’s lives.
Don’s interests included American History, rooting for the NY Yankees and NY Giants, reading, and gardening. He enjoyed hanging out at the beach, body surfing, boogie boarding and drinking craft beer. He loved to visit SeaWorld and Disney World, where he was an annual pass holder for over 15 years. He attended St. Anthony’s High School in Smithtown, NY on Long Island. Don graduated from Saint Anselm College in Manchester, NH, where he played soccer and earned a Bachelor’s in Arts in History. He worked in Insurance for various companies, including Met Life and NCCI.
Donald is predeceased by his daughter, Elizabeth Bouchard.
He will be greatly missed by his two daughters, Valerie Boyd, husband Kevin of Old Saybrook and Monica Morgan, husband Shawn of Blossvale, NY. He also leaves behind brothers Richard and Joe Bouchard, sisters Barbara Sposato and Marie DeFrees, and brother-in-law Don DeFrees. Don, also known as “Pop Pop” was cherished by his granddaughters, Cadence, Theresa “Tessa” and Alaina Boyd.
A memorial service will be held on June 1, 2019 from 2pm to 6pm at Swan Funeral Home, located at 1224 Boston Post Road, Old Saybrook. Calling hours begin at 2pm, followed by the formal memorial service at 5pm. The service will be officiated by Chaplain John Sears.
