Jean Calderaro, formerly of New York and Kentucky, passed away at age 94 on Thursday May 9, 2019 of natural causes. Jean, one of six children, was born on November 27, 1924 in Cheltenham, England to Harry Davis and Dorothy Evans. After completing school Jean worked in WW II military production factories on the Norden bombsight.
Jean was a war bride, marrying Michael Calderaro Sr. in 1944. After the war they settled in Queens, New York and had two children, Michael and Gail. Jean spent many summers in England with the kids visiting family. Jean proudly became a US citizen in 1962. In 1990 Jean and Mike moved to Berea Kentucky to be near family. After her daughter passed away, Jean moved to Summerfield, Florida to be near her son, Michael.
Jean is survived by her son Michael Calderaro (Lynn), 5 grandchildren (Colleen, Michael, Kerry, Heather Anne and Erin) and many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents (Harry and Dorothy), husband (Michael Sr.), second husband, (Wesley Elaman), daughter (Gail), granddaughter (Cathleen) and her five siblings (Reg, Doug, Ron, Audrey and Chris).
The family would like to thank Summerfield Suites Assisted Living for taking excellent care of Jean. Most recently Marion County Hospice, working with Summerfield Suites, showed incredible compassion keeping Jean comfortable as her health declined and we can’t thank them enough. A private service will be held for family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Jean Calderaro to Hospice of Marion County, 3231 SW 34th Avenue, Ocala, Florida 34474.
