After completing high school, MaryAnn traveled west to Seattle, WA where she met and married James Patterson in 1946. James passed away in 1967 after 21 years of marriage. Together they had three children who survive her; Randy Patterson (Lupe Patterson), Patti Patterson and Loree Selbst (Stuart Selbst) all of Mesa, AZ. MaryAnn is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Kellee Elmenhurst, Darci Brown, Joshua Patterson and Stephanie Patterson. In addition, she is survived by a host of great and great-great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and her relatives of the Youngberg family.
MaryAnn was blessed with a joyous marriage to Leonard Harmon for 38 years before he passed in 2006. She is also survived by her stepson and daughter in law, Tim and Lynn Harmon of Seattle, WA.
MaryAnn worked for Pacific Northwest Bell for several years. She served as both a long distance and information operator. She was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. She and Leonard relocated to Mesa, AZ from their home in Spokane, WA in 2004.
MaryAnn was artistically talented and could draw just about anything. She was also skilled in the kitchen and made memorable and delicious meals for family and friends as well as patrons to the café she and her husband Jim ran in Lacrosse, WA in the 1960s.
She was a loving mother and a devoted wife. MaryAnn was a life-long member of the Episcopal Church. Her faith in her creator kept her strong during life’s ups and downs. She was a cheerful, kind and loving woman with a keen sense of humor and an infectious smile and laugh. She is remembered for her sparkling blue eyes and for helping others, even into her later years.
MaryAnn’s wish was to be cremated. Her children will return her to Spokane, WA to rest with her beloved husband, Leonard in Fairmount Memorial Park. There are no plans currently for a memorial service.
