Larry Emmett Rupe, age 73, of Marietta, Georgia, passed away on May 20, 2019. He was born in 1945 to Emmett and Clara Rupe. Larry was born and raised in Oklahoma City with eight siblings. Larry enjoyed basketball and was the star player for Classen High School for many years. Working since he was 12, he had many jobs and learned everything he could which provided him the ability to be a great leader throughout his career. Larry retired in 2012 from Equity Residential Properties where he excelled and won many awards for his outstanding Management and Leadership. In Larry’s spare time, he enjoyed designing and building anything from structures to furniture. Larry loved a good movie, a good book, fishing, Lake Life, dancing in the moonlight, and traveling. Larry was a great story teller, he always enjoyed telling a good joke and making people laugh. Most of all, Larry was kind, caring, and devoted to his family.
Larry was dearly loved by Amy, his wife of 29 years; his children, Anjie (Jeff) Genthner, Kellie Smith, and Erin (Cliff) Johnson; and, six grandchildren. His death is also mourned by his sister, Lillie Cox of Hinton, Oklahoma; brothers, Dwayne Naves of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Connie Mack McClendon of Destin, Florida.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at H.M. Patterson & Son – Canton Hill Chapel, in Marietta, Georgia.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that you consider a donation in Larry’s name to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
