Hugh Edward Dudley, Jr, 96, of Longview, TX passed away peacefully May 22, 2019 at his home in Longview. A time of visitation with his family will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at Lakeview Funeral Home with a service to celebrate his life starting at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Lakeview Funeral Home, 5000 West Harrison Road, Longview, TX 75604 with Rev. Bobby Moore officiating. Hugh Dudley was born December 29, 1922 in Delphine, OK to Hugh Edward, Sr and Alma E. Dudley. He graduated from Judson High School in 1941, and enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1943. He was trained as an airplane mechanic and worked on B24s while he was stationed at Muroc Air Force Base in Muroc, CA during WWII. In 1954 he began working for Nelson Oldsmobile in Gladewater, purchasing the business from Mr. Nelson in 1974, having a very successful career at the dealership and decided to retire in 1990, after turning the dealership over to his children. He is a longtime member of Greggton First Baptist Church and truly loved his Lord. He was married to the love of his life, Beatrice for 66 years. Hugh was a devoted husband and father. He was selfless, giving and truly the cornerstone of the family.
Mr. Dudley is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law: Doug Dudley, Sr. and his wife Vicky of Longview, Ricky Dudley and his wife Bobbie of Quitman; daughters and son-in-law: Patricia Latham and her husband Kenneth of Union Grove, and Gloria Dixon of Longview; 11 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; as well as a number of great great grandchildren, extended family members and friends. Hugh is preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 66 years, Beatrice Fitzgerald Dudley, one brother, Donald Dudley and sister, Betty Berrick.
