Aaron "Whimpy" Denson Young, Sr. was born on December 15, 1935 in Leona, Texas to the late George Benjamin "Big Daddy" Young and the late Johnnie Lee "Big Momma" Denson-Young. He attended Marlin High School in Falls County, Texas.
At an early age, Aaron joined the U.S. Army and serviced his country for a number of years. Aaron was a servant of God and worked faithfully in the church. He was a truck driver for many years, after which he continued his career as a steel worker for over 17 years, before finally going on to work for The City of Houston where he retired in 2003. After retirement he continued his fellowship with the Second Thursday Friends club. He was joined in union with Juanita Young-Navy in December, 1960. They enjoyed over 27 years of love, laughter and fellowship.
They were blessed with 4 children: Star Young of Houston, Aaron D. Young, II of Waco, Letha Young-Speaks of Houston, and Sheree Young-Goodman of Waco; 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters: Laura Young-Jenkin of Missouri City, Bernice Harris of Waco; one brother: William E. Young of Waco; one brother-in-law: Milton Black of Odessa; three sister-in-laws: Ardella Young of Waco, Helen Young, and Betty Young, and a host of other relatives and friends. Aaron was preceded in death by his brothers John L. Young, Cecil Young, Edward Young, Georg B. Young; sisters Juanita Young- Black and Lavora Young-Smith.
A visitation will be held in his honor on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. inside the Chapel of American Heritage Funeral Home, 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77038. The Celebration of Life service will commence at 11:30 a.m. after which he will be escorted to the Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas, where he will be laid to rest with honors.
Following the services, the family of Mr. Young would like to invite his friends and loved ones to a repass held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Berea Missionary Baptist Church, 11507 Homestead Road, Houston, TX 77016.
