Mary Watson Pipes went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 31, 2019. She was born and raised in Ft. Worth Texas on June 6, 1934 to John and Thelma Watson. She married John Roy Pipes in February of 1959 and raised two sons, John Leonard and Michael Roy.
As a Gainesville resident for over 40 years, she was a member of the Hillcrest Church of Christ, where she served as a Sunday school teacher and adored every child who crossed her path. While working as the Director of Medical Records at Gainesville Memorial Hospital, she was a friend and mentor to a group of women who lovingly referred to themselves as “Mary’s Girls.” While she raised only her two sons, she was known as “Mom” to many others.
Mary was a true lady, classy, smart and always fiercely devoted to her family and friends. Her faith, strength and grace were always present and helped carry her through many great losses in her lifetime.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents, John and Thelma Watson; her brother, LaVerne Watson; her sister, Johnnie Kreidel; her niece, Mary Lee Taylor; her husband, John Roy Pipes; and her two sons, John Leonard Pipes and Michael Roy Pipes.
She is survived by her grandsons, Brandon Pipes of San Diego; Steven and Ashly Pipes and their daughter Adeline Carol Pipes of Houston; her daughter-in-law, Tana Pipes of Odessa; and many beloved nieces, nephews and dear friends.
A Celebration of the Life of Mary Watson Pipes will be Saturday, June 15, 2019 from 2:00-3:30 PM at the St. Barnabas Episcopal Church Fellowship Hall, 1200 N Elm St., Denton, TX 76201.
