Robert "Bob" Bernard Ruhr, age 77, of Keizer, Oregon passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, June 3, 2019. Bob was born on August 7, 1941, in St. Cloud, Minnesota, to Bernard John and Emma (Murphy) Ruhr. After losing his father at only 1-year-old, he became very devoted to his mother.
Bob was raised in St. Cloud until the age of 11, when he and his mother moved to California. He attended school and college in Canoga Park. He later met Yvonne Celeste Williams while working at a rental yard in Burbank. They were united in marriage in January 1969. Not long later, they had three children. They then moved to Oregon and had four more children, making their family complete with a total of seven children.
Bob had many different jobs throughout the years, but his favorite was when he worked as a chef. He was a dedicated family man and member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved to fish, camp, and acted as Scout Leader for the Boy Scouts of America for many years. Bob especially loved to bake, making delicious fudge every year and competing in fudge contests. He also enjoyed genealogy, playing the banjolele, doing word searches, reading, but mostly loved spending time with his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father; his mother; sister-in-law, Becky Kahl; and an infant brother, Timothy.
Bob is survived by his wife of 50 years, Yvonne; children: Patrick (Holly) Ruhr, Katherine (Scotty) McCollaum, Elizabeth (Travis) Johnson, Karen (Ronnie) Bottemiller, Genevieve (Chad) Wahlquist, Robert F. (Katie) Ruhr, and Celeste (Hugh) Stitzer; 23 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; sister, Ellen (Neal) Mendenhall; brother, Michael Kahl; and multiple nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, June 15, 2019 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1375 Lockhaven Dr NE, Keizer, OR 97303. All are welcome to attend.
