Angela Marie (Forghetti) Prasser

Angela Marie (Forghetti) Prasser, 88, of East Hartford, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at home. She was born in Hartford on November 29, 1930, the youngest child of the late Andrew and Sabita "Sadie" (Christiana) Forghetti and the beloved wife of the late Bernard Carl Prasser, who passed away in 2005 after 55 years of marriage. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter and son-in-law, Candace and Mark Wilson of South Windsor, and her two granddaughters, Chelsea and Liana Wilson, both of South Windsor, who will miss their "Mimi." She will also be missed by Emilio Estrella Teron, and his sister, Elisa, who considered her their "Mimi," too. She was a 1948 graduate of Glastonbury High School. She and Ben were married on April 8, 1950 at Hockanum Methodist Church, East Hartford. She worked at Connecticut General Life Insurance Company (CIGNA) for many years before staying home to be a full-time homemaker and dedicated mother. Angie returned to the workforce in 1973, becoming manager of So-Fro Fabrics. In later years she worked at Burritt Mutual Savings Bank, Card Gallery, and Little Professor Book Center, retiring when she became a proud and devoted grandmother. Besides her daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughters, she is survived by her brother Anthony Forghetti of South Windsor, her many "Forgetta and Christiana cousins," and she was "Aunt Angel" to her nieces and nephews Susan Lowrey and husband Bob, Norma Bromley and husband Ron, Heidi Leone, George Nowsch Jr, Godson Michael Sherriffs and wife Evelyn, Goddaughter Diane Sherriffs, Deborah Kupfer and husband Greg, Gary Forghetti, Pamela Kissel and husband Jim, Sharon Uldrikis and husband Helmut, Charlene Sullivan and husband Tim McLaughlin, Rusty Prasser and wife Sue, Maryann Pavano and husband Marco, and Brian Prasser. She also held a special place in her heart for the extended Wilson family. Besides her parents and husband she was predeceased by her sister, Micheline Sherriffs and husband Walter of South Windsor, her sister Roseann Nowsch and husband George of Westbrook, her sister-in-law Audrey Forghetti of South Windsor, her brother-in-law George Prasser and wife Mary of East Hartford, her sister-in-law Bertha Sullivan of East Hartford, her former brother-in-law Charles Sullivan of Manchester, and her special friend Henry "Hank" Limburg of East Hartford. For many years she was a Sunday School Teacher at Hockanum Methodist Church, East Hartford. In later years she became a member of Concordia Lutheran Church, Manchester. She was a longtime member of Hillstown Grange, East Hartford. Angie was an avid gardener, and for many years while living on Forbes Street, passersby would stop their cars on the side of the road to gaze at her large and meticulous flower gardens. She had many other hobbies over the years, including ceramics, playing piano, sewing, cake decorating, flower arranging, jigsaw puzzles, oil painting, knitting, and crocheting. Angie enjoyed playing Bingo every Tuesday night at Our Lady of Peace Church, East Hartford and playing the slots at the casinos. She enjoyed music, especially Frank Sinatra and Danny O'Donnell. She was an ardent fan of the Boston Red Sox and UCONN Men's Basketball. She received much happiness over the years from her cocker spaniels Cindy, Taffy, Pumpkin, and Buffy, and her cat Fifi. Angela was an avid bird lover, hummingbirds being her favorite, and she loved her home by the edge of the woods and the wildlife that visited her backyard. She was a loving and beloved mother and grandmother and a fun-loving friend and aunt who obtained strength from her family, friends, God, and her faith. Calling hours will be on Sunday, June 9 from 4-7pm at Newkirk and Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Avenue, East Hartford. Family and friends may gather on Monday, June 10, at 9:30am at the funeral home, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am at Concordia Lutheran Church, 40 Pitkin Street, Manchester.
