On June 3 at 2:24 PM Connie joined her beloved husband and eternal companion “Marvelous Marv” on the other side of the veil. She has struggled for years with Alzheimer’s and other physical ailments.
Born January 27, 1946 in Safford, Arizona to Grant J and Ellen Jean Allen. She is the second of four siblings.
She spent her first years living in tents while her father worked in Arizona Department of Transportation teams designing and building tunnels, bridges, and roads in remote locations. Later in her youth she gained a love for baking while working in a Safeway Bakery. This passion would become a hobby for her until late in life. She made multiple beautiful and moist multi-tiered wedding cakes as wedding presents through the years.
She married her love and eternal companion, Marvin Jewell on January 21, 1967 after he came home from serving in the military. Together they built a strong and stable home and had three children. They built a home of faith and love. Their family was their hobbies. They loved to travel and loved to take their children and grandchildren on road trips and adventures.
After graduating from Arizona State University, Connie became an elementary school teacher. She truly loved this calling. She had great love and concern for the inner-city children whom she served as a teacher. Many of these children had unique struggles and she made it her mission to learn what their needs were and how she could best help them succeed in life. This went beyond the simple class curriculum. The wife of one of her sons said, “My mom-in-law, Connie Jewell, had teaching engraved in her heart and soul. Every moment, every opportunity that presented itself, she found a way to enlighten someone’s mind and prove to them that they had great, important abilities! It’s the thing I most love about her.” This love for education and helping children was passed down to her daughter who followed her career choice.
She was selfless and loving, welcoming many others into her home and providing them with a place to live when needed. She always wanted family to feel welcomed and provide a safe place for all. She loved having family over and her home was known for large gatherings and swimming parties.
She is survived by her sister Audrey, brother Grant, children Corbin, Chad and Meredith and multiple grandchildren.
We will be celebrating her life on June 22, 2019 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at:

Viewing starts at 8:30 am. The funeral will start at 10:00 am.
