Thomas L. Cummins passed peacefully June 6, 2019. He was born December 23, 1930 in
Fitzpatrick, Alabama.
He moved to rural Orlando, Florida at the age of two growing up with a love for bird dogs,
horses and quail hunting.
He excelled in baseball and basketball at Orlando High School. Tom played minor league
baseball in Kissimmee having a tryout with the New York Yankees.
Tom proudly served in the U. S. Air Force for ten years. After being stationed at Keesler Air
Force Base, McCoy Air Force Base, and Offutt Air Force Base, he continued to work as a
civilian procurement officer at MacDill Air Force Base for 33 years.
Tom married Martha Marie Simmons of Orlando on June 8, 1957. They moved to the Tampa
area in 1961, and settled in Brandon, Florida for 29 years where he enjoyed coaching
many Little League teams, camping and was a Deacon at Brandon Christian Church.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Orlie Cummins, brothers and sisters,
Juanita Weston, Calvin Cummins , Beatrice Chaney, Anabelle Borges, and Chesley Cummins.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years Martha, son Scott (Lisa) Cummins, daughter Tami Ralph ,
grandchildren, Emma Cummins Alsobrook (Brock), Travis Ralph (Evan), Hayden Cummins
(MacKenzie), Sarabeth Cummins, Trevor Ralph, Trina Ralph, and 5 great grandchildren.
