Marlow was an open minded, philosophical anarchist. He believed in love and peace and always repped the Utah Utes. He knew the Jazz will win it all, next year, every year, and was definitely the number one sports fan for all the teams near and far. He was in the U.S. Air Force for 12 years and loved the opportunity it gave him to travel and explore other cultures. He held many different job titles but his favorite was coaching at Kiwanis-Felt Boys and Girls Club in Salt Lake City.
Many will remember him through his appreciation for all things sports, others will never forget him singing every word to many favorite songs and will always think of him when we listen to John Prine, Dr. Hook, Kris Kristofferson, and John Fogerty. Not only did he memorize all the lyrics to all the beloved songs, this man was a living encyclopedia for nearly everything. He was sharp as a tack and always had a quote to share, or information on any topic.
He was a grounded source of compassion and wisdom for many friends and family alike. Marlow could always find the good in everything and he taught those around him to be grateful for the simplest of pleasures. He maintained that "your attitude, not your aptitude, determines your altitude." On one of his last days with us he said he had never had a bored moment in his life, and I believe he truly always did what he wanted. He lived a wild and colorful life and spent his retired years doing exactly what he loved, sitting in his rocking chair, watching sports (or the birds and the squirrels) and surrounded by all types of flowers.
In lieu of sympathy, do indeed send flowers!! Marlow loved them - send some to anyone you miss and love, and plant some for the future!
We love you Marlow, fare thee well and do roll up something to take along!
