Lawyer Clinkscales was born January 19, 1925 in Anderson, South Carolina to Bud Lee Clinkscales and Levonia Norris. He served in the United States Armed Forces and was stationed in Korea, Okinawa, Japan and Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. He served 15 years and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant in 1957. He resided in Lawton, Oklahoma where he worked for the Officer’s Club as a chef then he went to work for Wade’s and Cattleman Cafeteria. He later moved to Dallas, TX and was employed by Donovan Galvani, Record’s Barbecue, and Walgreen’s. He was a member of Concord Church.
Lawyer Clinkscales married Doris Ann (Walls) Clinkscales on September 7, 1947. To this union, they were blessed with 4 children: Judy (Steven) Hooker, Dunkirk, MD; Lawyer (Linda) Clinkscales, Jr. Lawton, OK; Barbara Ann Clinkscales, Dallas, TX; Terry (Eva) Clinkscales, Ft. Worth, TX. 7 grandchildren: Michael (Kalani) Hooker, Mesquite, TX; Antoine and Annissa Clinkscales, Dallas, TX; Quantrina (Kedric) Walls, Midlothian, TX; Isaiah Clinkscales, Dallas, TX,
Brandi Hooker, Upper Marlboro, MD; Zeneta Randle, Ft. Worth, TX. 7 great-grandchildren: Minaka Chanel, Mica Shayla, and MaKayla Hooker, Mesquite, TX; Deriyan and Cedric Whitaker, Jr., Dallas, TX; Zayvian Randle, Ft. Worth, TX; Brandon Hooker, Dunkirk, MD and 1 great-great-grandson: Cayson Jordan, Dallas, TX. He is survived by 3 brothers: Jim Clinkscales, Anderson, SC; Mark Clinkscales, Anderson, SC; Paul Clinkscales, Greenville, SC; 4 sisters Levonia “Sene”Corial, Atlanta, GA; Minnie Lyles, Greenville, SC; Ruby Dilligard, Boston, MA; Bessie Dunbar, Boston MA; and a host of nieces and nephews in Anderson, SC. He is preceded in death by his parents and beloved wife of 65 years, Doris Ann Clinkscales, and 17 brothers and sisters.
