He was a long time member of the Booneville First United Methodist Church and Upper Room Sunday School class.
He was a graduate of Baldwyn High School, Class of 1970. After graduation, he served our country in the Mississippi Army National Guard.
He was an Insurance Representative with Liberty National Life Insurance Company retiring in 2007 after thirty two years of service. During his tenure, he became a member of the Life Underwriters Training Council and Senior Life Underwriters.
In retirement he joined his wife and other local volunteers to establish the Halfway Home Animal Shelter, a “No Kill” shelter designed to rescue stray dogs and cats in the City of Booneville.
He was a person who loved helping others and was happiest taking care of his family and friends. He was known for his famous pecan pies and grilling was one of his favorite pastimes. Many Fridays were spent on the golf course with friends and colleagues, while the weekends often included playing canasta with friends.
He is survived by his wife, Anne Marie Floyd Ford of Booneville. His son, Shea Ford and wife Laurie of Germantown, TN. A grandson, Jack and granddaughter, Sarah. A brother, Mike Ford and wife Cindy of Baldwyn, and niece, Annabeth Ford also of Baldwyn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mack and Nellie Jo Ford; a brother Stephen Ford and his father-in-law, J.B. Floyd and his mother-in-law, Myrtle "Myrt" Floyd.
Visitation will be Thursday, June 13, 2019 from 5 to 8 at McMillan Funeral Home in Booneville. Also, an hour before the Celebration of Life Service on Friday.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, June 14, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at the McMillan Funeral Home. The Reverend Bobby Hankins and the Reverend Trey Lambert will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Floyd, Jimmy Floyd, David Huddleston, Art Jumper, Ronnie Thompson and Ken Shackelford.
Memorials may be given to the Booneville First United Methodist Church or Booneville Second Chance Animal Sanctuary.
