Doug was born in Lawrenceville, GA on November 21, 1939. He was predeceased by his parents Noel Douglas Randolph, Sr. and Vera Clack Randolph, and his brother, David Earle Randolph. Grandparents, Charles Alexander and Florence Galloway Randolph, Sanders J. and Adeline Smith Clack.
He was married April 14, 1962 to his wife, Linda Walker Randolph of Chamblee, GA.
Doug was a 1957 graduate of Tucker High School. He went to Young Harris College and transferred to Georgia Tech.
He was an Army veteran with the rank of Spec 4 E-4 ASA (Army Security Agency) for three years in Petaluma, CA . While in basic training at Ft. Jackson, SC he earned the Sharp Shooter award and was asked to help train others to use their rifle.
In 1995, after 30 years of service, Doug retired from the Federal Aviation Administration as an Air Traffic Control Specialist. He worked at Greenville-Spartanburg Airport in Greer, SC, Miami International Airport, Miami, FL and finally at Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, Atlanta, GA. He loved being a controller. He was instrumental in helping to coordinate the mid-field terminal at Atlanta in 1980.
Golf was his obsession. He was privileged to have played golf at St. Andrews in Scotland. He also played with the Atlanta Seniors Golf Association and many tournaments at the church. Doug enjoyed playing golf with his three sons. Sports were high on his list of TV enjoyment. He also had a love for guns. He started teaching his granddaughter Elise how to shoot targets from the back patio and took her to the gun range a few times. She did very well. It gave him an excuse to go himself. He was always there for all his children's sporting activities, swimming, baseball, football and softball, and was known for his sideline coaching when he was not coaching.
Doug was very proud of all his grandchildren and shared their interest. Cheering with Olivia, gymnastics with Julia Grace, and golf with Evan. Doug enjoyed seeing Sasha and his daughter Ariana, Caitlin and her love of dogs, Taylor with her sweet smiles and hugs for family, and David with his interest in cars. Watching Charlie play soccer and his honors awards at school. Elise with her passion for cheer tumbling, guns & Schnauzers.
One of the highlights of his life was traveling for eleven years full-time in a motor coach touring the country. We were blessed to see God's beautiful creations, from Alaska, the entire United States, Canada, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland.
Doug was a member of Briarlake Baptist Church where he was very active in the Young Married Department and was a Deacon. He was on the Welcome Committee because he was so friendly.
