William H. and Earlean L. Artis. He attended Washington High School at Groesbeck, Texas. Afterwards, he relocated to Dallas, Texas where he met and married Mrs. Marcellustene Artis on February 24, 1968. Bobby was employed first at Methodist Hospital and then at General Motors Corporation where he retired after 38 years for service. His main hobby was viewing, discussing with family and friends and occasionally buying automobiles. He was known to most of his family and friends as “Lightning”.
Bobby Joe Artis departed this life on Tuesday, June 11, 2019, in Dallas, Texas.
Preceding him in death are his mother and father, Earlean L. and William H. Artis; grandparents, Augustus and Sarah Ford; paternal grandparents, James and Genora Artis; brothers, William E. Artis, Curtis G. Artis, Walter R. Artis, Ralph E. Artis and George A. Artis; sister, Patty A. Artis and daughter Crystal Weddington.

Whitfield (Veronica) of Irving, Texas; daughter, Bobbi Whitfield, of Irving, Texas; daughter, Belinda Artis of Arlington, Texas; daughter, Kalettia Weddington of Dallas, Texas; son, Bobby Weddington of Dallas, Texas; son, Kenneth Weddington of Dallas, Texas; grandsons: Marquel Whitfield (Esra Deshay), Bobby Ray Willis, Darius Andrew Whitfield, Jaylen Brown, Michael Lewis, Jr., and Aaron Davis; granddaughters: Brittany Shantel Willis, Sharmetrice Weddington, Monica Weddington, Veronica Weddington, Brittany Weddington, Azeiria Davis, and great grandchildren: Cesyle Whitfield, Bre Whitfield, Josh Whitfield, A’mare Nahje Whitfield, Alani MyKhael Whitfield, Na’Kiya May, Jaleeyah Garrett, Adrianna Garrett, Neveah Weddington, Aydenn Weddington and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
