He was born at home on Brown Street and grew up there with his older sister, Oralia, and he learned so much about life through the love of our parents. In his adolescent years, he enjoyed sports like baseball and football. He graduated from Stroman High School Class of 1971. He worked while attending Victoria College before receiving a B.S. and M.S. in secondary education from Texas A&I University in Kingsville, Texas. One of his proudest moments was showing his parents his first and only place of work as an Art teacher and coach at Crain Middle School. He worked with VISD for 26 years.
As a faithful Catholic, he served as an usher, Eucharistic Minister and Funeral Commentator for Our Lady of Sorrows (19 yrs); Our Lady of Lourdes (6 yrs); and Our Lady of Victory (1 yr). He also served as a driver and caregiver to Father Celestino Say of Our Lady of Lourdes.
He is survived by his beloved sisters, Oralia R. and husband Fred Saldana, Pollyanna R. and husband Dario Leos and Vergil Guadalupe R. and husband Richard Saldana; beloved nieces and nephews, Jessica Ann (Rob) Reda, Alfred (Crystal) Jacinto Saldana, Phillip (Veronica) Saldana, Celeste Leonor R. Henry, Johanna R. Henry, Consuelo Ann R. Leos, Lizabeth Marie R. Leos; Grand- nephews, Phillip Richard Saldana, Jonah Reda and Paul David Saldana, all whom he cherished and cared for, as taught to him by our loving parents, Jacinto P. and Gregoria J. Ramirez.
Visitation will be held at Colonial Funeral Home from 5 to 7 pm followed by a Rosary to be recited at 7 pm on Sunday, June 16, 2019. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 9:00 am on Monday, June 17, 2019. Followed by a procession to Resurrection Cemetery for burial.
