Clifton Lee Stipes, age 87, of Piney Flats, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at his residence. He was born in Bristol, Tennessee a son of the late James and Margaret “Mammy” Perry Stipes. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by, one daughter, Joyce Stipes.
Clifton was a veteran of the United States Army having served in the Korean War. During his time in service he received the following decorations and citations; Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Stars, Comb Infantry Badge, and United Nations Service Medal. He was of the Pentecostal faith, and a carpenter having worked for Tri-Cities Industrial Builders and Powell Construction. He was a member of the Piney Flats Masonic Lodge #547. He loved farming and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Texie Stipes; two children, Glenn Stipes and wife Linda, and Vickie Clark; eight grandchildren; and fifteen great grandchildren; one sister, Patsy Jobe; and one brother, Johnny Stipes.
The family will receive friends Sunday, June 30, 2019 from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM at Monte Vista Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will follow at 4:00 PM with his grandson Shawn Stipes officiating and Masonic Rights to be rendered by the Piney Flats Masonic Lodge #547. A Committal Service and Interment will be held at 10:00AM Monday, July 1, 2019 at Mountain Home National Cemetery with military honors to be rendered by the Boone Dam VFW Post #4933. Pallbearers will be Glenn Stipes, Shawn Stipes, Ricky Black, Chris Blevins, Dylan Stipes, and Randall Harold.
