Born in Columbus, OH to the late Winston, Sr. and Harriett Dove on January 18, 1922. Winston, Jr. (97) was the eldest of two, including his dearly departed sister Margaret (Dove) Robertson. Winston, Jr. left home to enlist in the Army at the age of 16, right before the start of WWII. He served on the front lines of the military for seven years.
In 1945, Winston, Jr. moved to Newark, NJ where he fell in love with Mildred DuPree, who became his wife of more them 50 years. Their union brought forth one son, Gregory Winston Dove (Wanda Sherrer), who followed in his father's footsteps and served active duty in the military. They were blessed with one grandson, Gregory Winston Dove, Jr.
Winston, Jr. was a devout Catholic and later became a deacon, ordained at the Cathedral Basilica of the Scared Heart (Newark, NJ). He retired from the city of Newark as a police officer and truck driver and moved, with his wife, to Florida to live out their golden years.
Winston, Jr. remained active in military service, volunteering and donating to numerous charities including VFW and DAV. He continued to serve the church and joined the Basilica of St. Paul Catholic Church (Daytona Beach)
Winston, Jr. is now reunited, the hereafter, with his loving wife and leaves behind a host of deeply loved family and friends.
