Mrs. Freddie Mae Wesley, daughter of the late Elder Alexander Elijah Scott and Marria McElroy, was born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. She dedicated her life to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ early in life. Fueled with her love for the Lord, she went on to save many in her community as an L.P.N. much of her life.
Mrs. Wesley married the love of her life, a military officer, Mr. Elisha Wesley, in Pine Bluff on April 12, 1951. Shortly thereafter, the young couple moved to St. Louis, Missouri---where they birthed and raised 8 profoundly gifted and extraordinary children.
Mr. Wesley faithfully served the Lord as a member of Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church for 68 years. She was an active church member, who served on both the church's Usher Board and Laymen's Committee. She served under the tutelage of three pastors during her near 7 decades of membership: Rev. James Andrew Morgan, Rev. Joseph Morgan, and Rev. J.B. Garris.
In addition to caring for her church members and 8 children, Mrs. Wesley also cared for others in her professional life as well. She tirelessly provided nursing care for elderly patients as a local nursing home until she retired.
As a result of her generous spirit and pleasant personality, Mrs. Wesley was loved by many. Her Christian life was as beautiful as the flowers she nurtured and grew. Her influence will forever influence the lives of all who knew her. She quietly departed this life Saturday, June 29th 2019 at Mercy Hospital in Creve Coeur, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by both parents, Elisha and Marria; her loving husband Elisha Wesley; daughter Doris Wesley; brothers Alexander Scott, Jr., James Edward Scott, Samuel Scott, Kenneth Wayne Scott, Clyde Boatwright, Sylvester Boatwright; and sisters Lanessa Larue Scott, Silverine Beck, and Dorothy Mae White.
