Marietta was born in Oakland, Calif. She moved to Portland when she was very young. Marietta attended St. Lawrence grade school, St. Mary’s Academy and Marylhurst College. While going to college she spent her summers working at Glacier National Park. She loved the outdoors. Marietta was a school teacher at Madeleine Grade School for over 30 years. She was also the Vice Principal. She and her husband Edward
were members of the Hayden Island Yacht Club, the Portland Power Squadron, Elks Lodge and the Retired Officers Club at the Portland Air Base. After retirement, she liked to spend her time caring for the roses at the Madeleine Church and serving meals at Blanchet House. Marietta died surrounded by people who loved her. She touched many lives and will be missed by all.
Marietta is survived by her cousin, William Miley; children, Charles and James Coulter, Teresa Hoyle, Kevin and Patrick DeBruhl, Edward and Stephen DeBruhl, Devi Jogenson and Carole Glaze; many grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Calhoun DeBruhl; sons, Thomas J. Coulter and Philip R. DeBruhl; grandson, Marshal R. Coulter; and great-grandson, Kingston
J. Ciarlante.
Viewing will be from 3 - 7 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 1, 2019, at Zeller Chapel of the Roses. Rosary will be recited at 10:30 a.m., with funeral Mass at 11 a.m., Aug. 2, 2019, at the Madeleine Church, 3123 N.E. 24th, with a committal service at Willamette National Cemetery at 1 p.m.
