Gaylon Edward Mortimer, age 91, of Riverside California passed away peacefully on Wednesday July 3, 2019 at his residence. Gaylon was born March 1, 1928 in St. Louis, Missouri. After serving on the USS New Jersey in WWII, Gaylon moved to Los Angeles where he met and married his wife Irma.
Gaylon was an avid golfer and enjoyed watching baseball, especially his favorite team, the Anaheim Angels. He loved spending time with family and friends.
Preceded in death by his parents Earl and Alma Mortimer and his brother Richard.
Gaylon is survived by his wife of 62 years, Irma V Mortimer, sons John E Mortimer, Mark E Mortimer, Matthew S Mortimer. He is also survived by grandson William Mortimer and two granddaughters, Michaela Hughes and Julia Mortimer and by his brother Earl Mortimer.
A Rosary Service will be held Thursday, July 18, 2019 from 9:30 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. at St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church, 3680 Arlington Avenue , Riverside, California 92506 with Funeral Mass following at 10:00 A.M.
A reception will follow the Funeral Mass at Canyon Crest Villas, 5510 Via Dos Cerros Riverside, California 92507
A private committal service will be held at Olivewood Memorial Park, 3300 Central Avenue, Riverside, California 92506.
