Born on August 4, 1975 in Statesville NC, she is the daughter of Sylvester Stokes and Kathy Bostic, who survive.
Tonya was very creative, fashionable, and loved doing arts and crafts, especially her "Luvy Jewels". She enjoyed decorating, gardening flowers, and refurbishing furniture. She was an advocate for "Saving the Turtles." She was always a planner, loved traveling and even had her travel agent license. She received a certificate from Empire Beauty School. She attended her family church Bibleway #1 in throughout her life and became a member in 2019. She held a special place in her heart for her pets, her beloved dog Dreamer and her Shih Tzu, Solo.
She was preceded in death by her Paternal Grandparents, Wiley Stokes & Myrtie Smith Stokes; maternal grandparents: Robert O. Woods & Mary Watts Woods, younger sister, Veronica Shaye Stokes; Step-Father, Michael Bostic and her Beloved Shih Tzu, Dreamer.
In addition to her parents, those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of three years, Andre Brice; daughter, Tyra Stokes; step-sons, Deandre McGill and Leandre (Jasmine) McGill; step-daughters, Tashana Brice and Adrienna Brice; grandchild, JaMaya McGill; sisters, Cathy (Reginald) Dye and Shontia Stokes; mother-in-law, Gabriel Robinson; brother-in-laws, Sean (Katrina) Bowles and Clarence Robinson; sister-in-law, Karima Brice; special aunt, Sandra Woods, a special cousin, Cuabeya Woods; Host of Uncles & Aunts, Host of Cousins, and a Host of Friends & Loved Ones.
The family will visit with friends at a Wake that will be held at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home on Monday, July 15, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A memorial service celebrating Tonya’s life will be held on Tuesday, July 16 at 2:00 p.m. at Bibleway Church #1 in Statesville with Pastor Georgia Daniels officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service at Bibleway Church #6 Cemetery in Troutman.
