joined the love of his life, Darlene, in the paradise of Heaven. Duane was peacefully swept up in
the loving arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ while one of his favorite songs, “I’ll Fly Away”,
was softly playing.
Duane was born in an old farm house in Bray, Oklahoma on July 1, 1938 to Miley Lee Curtis
and Lovie Belle Morgan. He was a very ornery rascal growing up, and loved to explore using his
imagination to create things outdoors for entertainment.
Duane married Beverly Darlene Williams in Guthrie, OK on March 12, 1956. They went on to
enjoy 58 years of a wonderful marriage here on this earth until his beloved wife passed in
August 2014. Now, Duane and Darlene continue celebrating together in Heaven along with
their grandson, Reed.
Duane attended Southeast High School, and graduated in 1957. At some point after high school
he also attended the University of Oklahoma majoring in economics, but was forced to direct his
time to his work career, in order to provide for his family.
Duane started working to make money at a very early age, and after high school he began
working hard to provide for his family. He immediately began working for Wonder Bread, and
spent a total of 12 ½ years with most of the time spent in route sales. After this, he moved on to
brokerage sales, but there wasn’t much pay involved so he went back to route sales for
Frito-Lay. He spent a total of 13 ½ years working in route sales for Frito-Lay. While working for
Frito-Lay he also utilized his time off selling real estate for two years as a side job for extra
income. He finalized his career as a route manager with Farm Fresh, and finally retired at the
age of 62.
Duane really enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. His life was spent as a jokester
pulling pranks, and creating comedy. Duane always had an extreme amount of devotion for his
wife, and his four children. His hobbies included reading, woodworking, helping others, pulling
pranks, creating comedy, and spreading smiles. He had a deep passion for birds, and
developed a love for the hummingbirds that returned every year to the feeders on the back
porch of this home. He also enjoyed his black coffee, and long talks with his wife on the back
porch swing. The highlights of his life were God, his wife, and his four children. He also invested
much of his time and love into his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and
great-great-grandchildren. Duane never met a stranger along the path of life, and always went
above and beyond to share advice, a listening ear, a helping hand, love, a smile, comedy,
laughter, and God’s word.
Duane is preceded in death by his father Miley, his mother Lovie, his wife Darlene, and his
grandson Reed Curtis.
