On July 7, 2019, after 60 years of family, friends, food and fun, Beryl Elizabeth Lucia of New Caney, Texas, passed away. She was greeted in heaven by many loved ones, including her beloved father, Johnny, brother, Sidney, and precious niece, Joy. Beryl impacted and influenced many people with her enthusiastic personality and contagious laughter.
In her early years, Beryl spent time fending for her own among her six siblings. In high school, she was active in cheerleading and spent many a nights hanging out in parking lots and going to concerts. It was during high school that Beryl met her soulmate, Phillip, and her lifelong, best friends.
After holding out for 9 years, Beryl eventually married Phillip. Soon after, they started their family. She had 4 children, Anthony, Rachel, Brittany, and Candace, and two grandsons, Gavin and Garrett.
Beryl enjoyed going to all kinds of events, including plays, movies, concerts, and the circus. She also loved going on vacations with her family, gardening, hosting parties, and taking pictures ALL THE TIME.
Participating in many extracurricular activities, Beryl was the epitome of a team and class mom. She was a staple at the elementary school and at all of her kids’ school functions. Beryl proudly took on the role of “bonus mom” to many kids. She made sure to always have PLENTY of unhealthy, delicious snacks and food on hand.
Beryl never made it to an event on time, but she always made it. She never met a stranger and made friends and created memories at the drop of a hat. To know her was to love her.. and she loved right back! She will be missed immensely and remembered fondly by all that knew her. May she rest in peace.
Beryl is survived by her husband, Phillip; her mother, Elsie; her brothers, Garry and Dennis (Gene); her sisters, Bobbie, Barbara (Pete), Elsie (Baby Doll); her children, Anthony and wife, Amanda, Rachel and husband, Daniel, Brittany, and Candace; and her grandchildren, Gavin and Garrett Lucia.
Visitation will take place from 6-8 P.M. on July 10th, 2019. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on July 11, 2019 at Brookside Funeral Home in Houston, TX.
