Born in Brooklyn, NY in 1956 and son of the late Joseph Manteiga Sr. and Frances Manteiga, he graduated from Tottenville High School in Staten Island in 1974. After high school, he started a job at Chase Manhattan Bank, and within 16 years, he worked his way to become Chief Locksmith. Being a Joe-of-all-trades, he went to The College of Staten Island where he was a firefighter/engineer for 12 years. In 2005, he and his family moved from New Jersey to Massachusetts where he started his own property management business. He loved anything with an engine - cars, boats, motorcycles, you name it. Whether he was in his garage or out on the water, you could find him, and he was always willing to lend a helping hand or share his wealth of knowledge.
He was the husband of Cynthia Manteiga for 33 years and the brother of Linda Desjardins. He leaves behind a daughter, Stephanie, a son, Joseph, and his black lab, Dozer. Leaving an impact on everyone he met, Joe will be truly missed by all.
Visiting hours will be held Sunday, July 21 from 2-4 pm at the Nickerson Funeral Home, 87 Crowell Road, Chatham, MA.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Joe’s memory can be sent to Cape Cod National Seashore, 99 Marconi Site Road, Wellfleet, MA.
