Theresa Irene Winterstein, age 90, passed away peacefully July 11, 2019. She was born February 10, 1929 in Baltimore, Maryland to Francis and Frances Gos. She was married to her friend and only love, John Conrad Winterstein Jr., on August 7, 1948, who preceded her in death in 1980. Theresa was also predeceased by her parents, sisters Helen Jakubiak, Genevieve Brukiewa, Dorothy Letschin and brother, Francis Gos.
Theresa, or Busia’, as she was called by her family, took great pride in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She spoke of them often and loved when they all got together as one family. She was a great cook and loved to make Christmas cookies and Polish food. Theresa’s true passion was playing bridge at Bykota, Edenwald and St. Elizabeth’s Hall with her friends.
Theresa was a devoted Catholic who attended church regularly at St. Joseph’s Church in Cockeysville. She loved watching the Catholic channel, EWTN. She was a kind, compassionate and strong-willed person who was always thinking about others before herself.
Her life was a living example of Bible verse, Ephesians 4:32 — “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.”
Theresa is survived by her two children, Lynn Winterstein Lehto (William) of Bel Air and John Conrad Winterstein III (Brenda) of Conowingo. Grandmother to Matthew Lehto (Jackie), Ashley Lehto, Jessica Winterstein, Justin Winterstein (Courtney) and Julie Thompson (John). Great Grandmother to Ruby, Cora, Julia, Mikayla, Sofia, Kaylin, Brayden, Weston, Skylar, Elizabeth, Ryan, Christian and Sean. Theresa is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the Lemmon Funeral Home of Dulaney Valley, Inc., 10 W. Padonia Road (at York Road) Timonium, Maryland 21093 on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph Church, 101 Church Lane, Cockeysville, Maryland 21030 on Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at 10:00 am.
Interment Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens.
