Henry was preceded in death by: his parent's, Carl Gillespie and Mollie Lewis, his late wife of 61 years, Mary Stanland Gillespie, along with five brother's and one sister.
Mr. Gillespie was survived by: his loving wife of six years, Wacile Gillespie, seven children, Howard Gillespie(Debbie), Linda Altman(Richard), Mike Gillespie(Andrea), Gary Gillespie (Amanda), Gary Jones(Leann), Derek Jones(Theresa), and Patra, Culpepper(Chuck) as well as forty-one grand and great-grand children.
Henry used his brother’s birth certificate to join the Air Force at the age of 14. During his twenty years in the Air Force, he had many accomplishments. He was a part of the Strategic Air Command, a Crew Chief on B-52 Bombers, developed aerial photographs of North Korea, and helped form the Air Force’s first Operational Readiness Inspection team. Outside of his career, he had many other occupations such as a mechanic, a foreman for home construction, and a newspaper printer, and was essentially a jack of all trades inside and outside of work. When he was not working, Henry loved to play golf and go fishing.
Henry Howard Gillespie was loved by many and will be missed by all.
A visitation for Henry will be held Thursday, July 18, 2019 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Wesleyan Church of Prattville, 1274 E Main St, Prattville, AL 360667. A funeral service will occur Thursday, July 18, 2019 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 1274 E Main St, Prattville, AL 36067. Burial will be Friday, July 19, 2019 at 2:00 PM in Beal Memorial Cemetery, 316 BEAL PKWY NW, FORT WALTON BEACH, Florida 32548-3924.
