Herbert W. Parsons, 87 of Arlington Heights was born September 20, 1931 in Chicago to Vaughan and Lauretta (Stift) Parsons and passed away July 14, 2019. Herb was the beloved husband of Celeste T. (Gajda) Parsons; loving father of Lorene (Eric) Sandine; cherished grandfather of Amy and Carly Sandine and dear brother of the late Vaughan, Phyllis and Clyde “Corky” Parsons.
Herb was in the United States Air Force from 1951-55 stationed in England.
He became involved in the sport of Judo (achieving an 8th degree black belt) and Self Defense (achieving a 7th degree black belt), which spanned 55 years of competing and teaching.
Growing up in Wrigleyville, he was fortunate to become a bat boy and pitched batting practice for the Chicago Cubs.
Herb’s teaching career began in the Chicago Public School system from 1962-69 and continued to High School District #214 from 1969-99. He also taught Judo and History at Harper College for over 25 years.
