Sao Huynh was born in Vietnam (Cantho) on December 31, 1925. She lived there most of her life and had experienced hardship growing up. She volunteered at temples and helped cook. She also worked as a nanny for families and as a way to earn a living and a lot of agriculture.
Sao had lived through the Vietnam War and was lucky to have survived despite those family members who didn’t. Sao was married, but before coming to the United States her husband passed away. She is survived by her son and his wife Moui Huynh with four girls; granddaughters Bich Tran, Thuba Tran, Huyen Tran and Kienhou Tran. Sao took care of them most of their life and was like a second mom to them. She would always tell us to do good by teaching the meaning of respect and to be nice. She was always independent, loved to cook for her son, sew her own clothes and grow her own plants and veggies while she was able to.
When arriving in the United States in 1995 she made Charlotte, NC her home for 23 years.
As of last year unfortunately she was diagnosed with kidney cancer. Doctors said that she would only live six months, but she stretched life out for approximately a year. She became ill less than a month ago and her pain had gotten worse.
She took her last breath Monday morning, July 15, 2019. She was a strong woman and lived a long life of 93 years. She was an amazing grandmother and mother who will be loved, missed and cherished forever.
Sao’s awakening will be held at McEwen Funeral Service, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte on Wednesday, July 17, 2019 from 3-7pm. A Graveside Service will take place on Thursday, July 18, 2019 at Sharon Memorial Park.
