CRIST, RICHARD PATRICK Born January 28, 1945 in Lebanon, Missouri and died on July 16, 2019 in Denver at the age of 74. Survived by his wife, Susan Gangell Crist; Sons Jon (Katie), Rick (Jessica), Josh (Lisa) and grandchildren Jack, Ella, Addison and Hannah. He is preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Evelyn Crist of Denver.
Richard grew up in Denver and graduated from East High. He attended college at Colorado School of Mines and graduated in 1968, with a degree in Geophysical Engineering and was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. His professional career lead him to work for both International and US-based oil and gas corporations. While working abroad in Sydney, Australia he attended Macquarie University. He was a member of American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG). He married Susan in 1972 and they were blessed to spend 47 years together, traveling the world and creating a beautiful life with their three sons. Richard was active with the Boy Scouts of America throughout his life. An Eagle Scout himself, he volunteered with all three of his sons Scout activities - all three boys earned the rank of Eagle Scout, just like their father. He also loved coaching his son's baseball teams. Richard loved the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and an active member of SCI International. He obtained his private pilots license. He loved his Denver Broncos and was a fan of Texas A&M University, Baylor University and The University of Texas, his son's alma maters. Above all his professional accomplishments and achievements, he loved his family most. Being a father to his sons and a grandfather was his greatest joy in life.
Visitation and memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 21 at 1:00 pm at Olinger Chapel Hill Mortuary and Cemetery; 6601 South Colorado Blvd., Centennial, CO 80121 (303)771-3960. If preferred donations may be sent to the charity/foundation of your choice in his name.
