Dora grew up during the Great Depression and even with the many hardships her family had, she persevered and earned a Master’s Degree in Special Education from the Eastern New Mexico University. She was a true “Rosie the Riveter” and helped make war supplies while her brothers were enlisted in World War II. She later lived on the Navajo and Tewa Reservations and became a teacher for the Bureau of Indian Affairs as well as travelled the world, including all of Europe.
She is preceded in death by her husband: Wade W. Coursey; companion: Charles M. Krumtum; her son: J. Lester Coursey; her parents; and four brothers: William A. Butler, Raymon A. (Kate) Butler, Randell H. (Polly) Butler, and Joe C. (Wilma) Butler, who are all celebrating her arrival in Heaven.
Dora is survived by her daughter: SuRita (Gene) Hicklin; four grandchildren: James W. Coursey, N. LeAnn Hicks, Darren W. (Meghan) Hicklin, and Mitchel G. Hicklin; eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Although Dora has outlived majority of her friends and family, those left to cherish her memory will be celebrating the wonderful life she’s lived as well as her first Heavenly Birthday on Tuesday, July 30th, 2019 at 11 AM at Pinecrest Funeral Home (7401 HWY 5 North, Alexander, AR, 72002). She will be laid to rest next to her husband on August 21st, 2019 at 10:30 AM at the Santa Fe National Cemetery in New Mexico
