Mavis Mercedes Gallimore Miller passed away peacefully Wednesday July 17, 2019 at Suncoast Hospice in Palm Harbor FL. Born December 28, 1924 in Camagüey, Cuba. She was the third of five siblings of Benjamin Gallimore and Catherine (Deans) Gallimore.
Mavis arrived to the United States in 1944. In 1950, she married Oscar R. Miller and moved to the South Bronx, New York. Mavis was a devoted Seventh Day Adventist. She made a career of helping the sick and needy as a nursing assistant until she retired in 1977 and subsequently moved to Orlando, Florida.
In 1999, Oscar and Mavis moved to Tampa, Florida from Orlando to enjoy the last chapters of their lives together. Mavis lost Oscar in 2002.
Mavis is survived by her sisters; Irene Jackson of Palm Bay, FL and Ana Trotman of Tampa, FL; son, Jeffrey Miller of Tampa; stepdaughter, Elsie Bloomfield of Orlando as well as her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a great-great granddaughter.
Mavis is predeceased by her husband Oscar; sister Beryl, brother William and son Melvin.
