BOCA RATON, FLORIDA - Jon T. Lorensen, 68, of Boca Raton, FL and Old Lyme, CT, loving husband, brother, uncle, father and grandfather passed away on July 19, 2019. Born in Waterbury, CT on December 24, 1950, Jon was the son of the late Louis H. Lorensen and the late Louise L. Forbes. He grew up in Bethlehem, was graduated from Watertown High School in 1968 and attended the University of Connecticut.
Jon is perhaps best known as a self-made, successful businessman. He founded the Lorensen Auto Group with a single store - J. Thomas Honda - in 1978, and grew the business into the 10-franchise group it is today. Jon was an avid boater, car collector, traveller and benefactor, generous with his wisdom, his time and his wealth. While formidable when it came to business, he was easy to like and admire.
Jon is survived by his beloved wife Melissa, his son Jon Lorensen, cherished grandsons Logan and Colton, his siblings: Katherine Lorensen and her husband Clark Bennett, Frederick Lorensen and his wife Joyce, Marianna Lorensen, Lucinda Hart and her husband Ted, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Louis H. Lorensen in 2015. Additionally, over 340 employees of the Lorensen Auto Group mourn his passing, as do his devoted friends in Connecticut and Florida.
