Leroy lived in Springfield most of his life and graduated from Cathedral High School and later graduated from College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA. He was President of the New England Church Interiors (Retired). He was a communicant and Eucharistic Minister of the Holy Redeemer Church in Chatham. He served as a Lieutenant in the Air Force Reserve during the Korean War, and was a member of the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company of Massachusetts.
He was a former District Governor and International Trustee of Serra International, a Knight Grand Cross of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem and a Knight of the American Association of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta where he was a former Area Chairman.
He was also a member of the President’s Council at the College of the Holy Cross and a member of the Cape Cod Chapter Alumni Association.
He was a former Vice Chairman and member of the Board of Directors of Westbank Corporation and was one of the founders of Park West Bank and Trust Company.
He served as Chairman of the City of Springfield Police Commission in 1964, was a member of the Board of Trustees of the Memorial Small Business Assistance Corporation, Treasurer of the Chatham Historical Commission, and a Candidate for Mayor of Springfield in 1968.
He received Rotary International’s highest honor, the Paul Harris Fellow, from the Rotary Club of Springfield where he was a member. He was also a former President of the Colony Club of Springfield, a member of the Longmeadow Country Club, the Eastward Ho! Country Club of Chatham, the Monomoy and Hyannis Yacht Clubs and a FAA licensed pilot.
He was an Overseer at the Baystate Medical Center and a Corporator of STCC, Stage West, South End Community Center, and the Child and Family Services of Springfield.
Leroy was predeceased by his wife Ann (McNamee) Jarrett. He is survived by his sister Joan Jarrett Byrnes and twelve nieces and nephews.
