Peggy Bailey Burrow, 90, of Clinton, MS, passed away on Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at St. Dominic Hospital. Visitation will be held at Lakewood Funeral Home on Friday, July 26 from 10:00 to 11:00 am with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 am.
Peggy was born on May 21, 1929 in Oxford, MS to Edd and Rose Pearl Bailey. In 1955, she and her husband, Robert Lee Burrow, Jr. (R. L.) moved from Oxford to Jackson. She was a stay-at-home mom, an excellent seamstress, and a great cook. She loved gardening and was always eager to tackle a new project or task with a servant’s heart. Later on, she worked for Pippin-School Pictures and then retired from Blue Cross Blue Shield. They were members of Highland Baptist Church and First Baptist Church Jackson.
Peggy is preceded in death by her parents, Edd and Rose Pearl Bailey; brother, Robert E. Bailey; and husband, Robert Lee Burrow, Jr. (R.L.).
She is survived by her son, Lee Burrow (Holly) of Hattiesburg, MS and daughter, Alecia Adcock (Paul) of Clinton, MS; and her grandchildren, Leah Graves (Matt), Bailey Smith (Travis), Austin Adcock (Gracie), and Abbey Reeves (Bill), who lovingly called her Mamaw. They loved to swing with her on the back porch and hear stories about growing up in the country at Oxford. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren Callee Graves, Jake Graves, Will Graves, Baylor Smith, Caroline Smith, Mary Travis Smith, and Ella Grace Adcock who enjoyed visiting with her these last years.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Missions-Go-Fund at First Baptist Church Jackson, P.O. Box 250, Jackson, MS 39205.
