Born in Vancouver, raised in Kitsilano and Sea Island, Janie attended Richmond High and graduated from Vernon High. She was a teacher at Maple Grove elementary who never lost the instinct to impart knowledge.

She was awarded Lifetime Donor from the Canadian Blood Services and an active member at St. Mary’s Kerrisdale where she had many friends and fond memories.
An incredible seamstress, Janie fashioned coats, dresses and shirts for herself and family. She loved to spend time in her English garden and fresh flowers always filled her vases. She loved animals and all her dogs, especially Bingo.
Janie and Ken belonged to the Arbutus club where they enjoyed socializing and curling. They loved to entertain and she was a fabulous cook, renowned for her pie! Her favourite place (despite the outhouse ), was the family cabin on Bowen Island, where she loved to swim, play scrabble and host friends on the ‘gin lawn’.
She enjoyed her last year at Amica with friends and the lovely staff!
The family wishes to thank her GP Dr. Bootsman and the doctors and nurses at VGH for their incredible care and compassion.
There will be a service at St. Mary’s Kerrisdale on August 26, 2019, at 2 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the SPCA, VGH Or St. Mary’s Kerrisdale.
