Ina Claire graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1948 with B.S. degrees in education and recreation. She worked as Executive Director of Palm Glades Girl Scout Council in Lake Worth for 22 years. Ina Claire held memberships in Kappa Delta Sorority, Soroptimist International of the Palm Beaches (past president and life member), and the Area Agency on Aging (treasurer and board member). She also volunteered for the American Red Cross and taught swimming to hundreds of Palm Beach County adults and children. Ina Claire was a member of Christ Fellowship Church in Royal Palm Beach.
After retiring, Ina Claire enjoyed traveling with family and friends, teaching swimming, modeling, working campaigns and the polls, and helping several families with financial management. For decades, she enthusiastically supported the Miami Dolphins and Marlins, as well as her children's college teams. She was an avid tennis fan, expert bridge player and a voracious reader.
Ina Claire is survived by her six children: Peggy L. (Mert) Baker, Patti (George) Sousa, Bill Jurney, Beth (Dan) Hudson, Kory (Mike) Norris, and Jurney/Chris (Chris) Poland. Also surviving are her grandchildren: Ted Baker, Andrew Baker, Scott (Raelyn) Hudson, KC Hudson, Jenny James, Kari Jurney, Daniel Jurney and five great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind three step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren in Kansas.
Ina Claire found great joy in her family. Her warm, winsome spirit and love of life created a wide circle of friends. She deeply treasured her relationship with the Lord and time spent reading the Bible.
