Gail was born in Ballard, Washington on April 11th, 1946 to Ted and Betty Johnson. Her older brother Leslie was her first friend and lifelong teasing partner. A lover of music and dancing, Gail performed in many dance recitals as a girl. She played the violin in her school and city orchestras, and was a cheerleader and 1964 graduate of Ballard High School.
Gail always loved flowers and enjoyed working at Ballard Blossom Shop. She and Lowell were married in 1967, and Gail was happy to be home when son Jeff was born the following year. Daughter Sheri arrived in 1971, and the family moved from Ballard to Bothell in 1979. Gail's favorite summer weekend was to pack a picnic and head to Leavenworth, the ocean, or the Crystal Mountain chairlift with her family.
Gail welcomed son-in-law Derek to the family in 1996, and was thrilled with the arrival of grandsons Andrew in 2001 and Christopher in 2005. She absolutely adored the boys and was the proudest Grandma ever!
Gail loved watermelon, scrapbooking, Mt. Rainier, and the color blue. She enjoyed going on ferry rides and walking on Kalaloch’s ocean beaches. Sitting on the glider on her back deck was one of her favorite places to be. She was fortunate to be able to stay in her home until June of 2017.
Many thanks to Brookdale Alderwood and Evergreen Hospice for their care for Gail and her family.
In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or The Goodtimes Project, providing summer camp experiences for pediatric cancer patients.
We love and miss you, Mom.
