It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our dear wife, ‘mum’, grandma, sister, aunt, and friend in the early morning of August 3, 2019 at St. Boniface Hospital. We wish to thank the compassionate efforts of the medical staff at the St. Boniface Hospital for their care and concern in Mom’s time of need.
June was born in Dodsland, Saskatchewan on June 22, 1940. She leaves behind her beloved husband, Harold, of 55 years, her son, Greg (Heather) Swalwell, her daughter Tracey (Roger) Lewko, and her precious grandchildren that brought her immense pride and joy – Clark, Taylor (Swalwell), and Damon, Jenna (Lewko). June also leaves to mourn her passing her brother Fred (Marion) Silzer, and her nephews Bob, Doug (Joan), Mark (Lori) Silzer, and her great nieces and nephews Megan, Mitchell, and Jordan (Silzer). She was predeceased by her parents, Ernest, and Dorothy Silzer.
June was a witty and wise lady with a love for her family, and a never ending passion for learning. Her favourite pastimes were gardening, cooking, knitting, and cheering on her favourite sports teams. She always had a “project” on the go and enjoyed tackling special jobs around the house and in the yard.
June grew up in Saskatoon and completed her education there at Nutana Collegiate, and later at the University of Saskatchewan, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree, and a Bachelor of Education degree. She enjoyed many career paths through her years but enjoyed her years as a teacher most.
June will be forever cherished in our fondest memories.
“I’d rather be a could be, if I could not be an are.
For a could be is a maybe with a chance of touching par.
I’d rather be a has been than a might have been by far.
For a might have been has never been but a has been was an are.”
At Mom’s request she will be cremated and laid to rest alongside her parents in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan following a private family service in Winnipeg.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations to be made to the St. Boniface Hospital.
