Edwin A. Roberts, Jr., 86, of Tampa, passed away on August 8, 2019. He was born November 14, 1932 in Weehawken, New Jersey. Edwin was the son of the late Edwin A. Roberts, Sr. and Agnes Seuferling Roberts.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Jack and Alan Roberts.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Barbara Collins Roberts; daughters Elizabeth (Juan), Leslie, Amy (Richard), and Jacqueline (Carlos); twelve grandchildren, Katharine (John), Paul, Caroline, William, Edwin, Tyler, Collin, Clare, John Paul, Emma, Joseph, and Nicholas; and two great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Jack; and his brother Peter (Yumi).
He was a newspaper journalist for 50 years. He worked for The Wall Street Journal, The National Observer (where he won the Pulitzer Prize for Commentary in 1974), and The Detroit News. For the last 20 years of his career, he was the editorial page editor and a columnist for The Tampa Tribune.
A funeral Mass will be held at St. Paul Catholic Church, 12708 N. Dale Mabry Hwy in Tampa on Friday, August 23, 2019 at 2:00 pm.
