Services celebrating the life of David Bruce Crank will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, August 12, 2019 at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel with Pastor Terry Young officiating. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park. A visitation for friends and family will be held on Sunday, August 11, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
Bruce was born on December 2, 1958 in Shreveport, LA to Leroy and Jeanette Oxford Crank and passed away on August 9, 2019 in Haughton. He attended LSU and during his college years, he was on the Shreveport Rugby Team. He worked at Cowboys as a bouncer and that is where he met his wife, Darlene. Bruce also worked at Home Depot as a department head for many years and loved his job there. He took an opportunity to own and operate his own business, Bayou Septic Service that he ran until he retired.
As a young man, he loved to hunt and fish, but when he got away from that, he continued to stay active outdoors. Bruce loved to plant trees and garden. He had a talent for building anything. He was mathematically inclined and could look at a project and know the size and materials needed to complete it without measuring it out. He was always fascinated with snakes and would bring them home, poisonous or not.
Bruce was kindhearted, sweet and a big animal lover. He could never pass a lost animal on the road. He loved mountains, fish and bayous. He enjoyed cooking everything especially chicken and dumplings and barbequing steaks. He loved his friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his father, Leroy Crank. He is survived by his wife, Darlene Crank; mother, Jeanette Crank; sister, Jennifer Wilder; brother, Paul Crank and nephew Will Wilder. Bruce is also survived by aunts, Frances Gilbert, Lynette Parker and Ruth Elkins and her husband Jerry and numerous loving cousins.
