I met Rumer in 7th grade at brown middle school, I’ve gone to school with her till she graduated in 2017, and I remember there was never a time that she wasn’t smiling. Even when she was having a bad day she was smiling...I’m so sorry to those who were close to her, friends, family, and co workers alike, she will always be in my memories and my prayers! And I’m so sorry that I missed the service and didn’t get to pay my respects.

Well it’s almost been a year.  Seems so unreal. As I read through all of the wonderful memories of her I can’t hardly see from my tears. I have bonded with other moms who have lost a child, as I feel they can only understand the death of the loss my body and soul feels. I still cry every day but not that gut wrenching cry like at first. Man that’s so exhausting. She was one amazing girl. She showed everyone her upbeat side. I have no idea how she did it. I know I couldn’t. She showed me the hard parts. I’m so thankful to have been the one by her side to help her every day and see her real pain. Which I’m so glad she is free of. On the one year mark Aug 12 Her brother Chance and I will be sitting at her grave site if anyone wants to stop by. Warning I WILL hug you. So stop me if you’re not ok with that. I totally get it. Thank you to everyone who helped her along her journey. Love and peace to all. 

I met Rumer in middle school, about 8 years ago now, we were never close, especially going into high school. I remember one time sitting at a table with her and her friends eating lunch, being new, 11 years old, it’s hard to make friends, so I appreciated their kindness to this day.  I appreciated Rumer's life, seeing her at practice, in the hall laughing, living her life, as we all would expect that, but no one expects cancer.  I was shocked when I found out, but literally without words just now finding out she’s no longer with us. She was so intelligent and absolutely beautiful.  It’s a really weird feeling to think that someone whom was always there is gone, and that’s from perspective of a acquaintance, so my heart breaks deeply to those who were close to her. I wish I could use a magic wand and undo a lot of things, Take away pain, but if there’s anything I do know, is that she would want those closest to her to be happy, she’s unforgettable, but allow those memories to bring joy instead of pain. That she appreciated and enjoyed the years of her life that she got to experience to the fullest, her time unfortunately was shorter than most but no one is to blame for that other than a vicious disease.  Know she loved you, a lot. Know that she’s resting, finally at peace. 

I met Rumer when she started as a student at Ladd Acres.  I first noticed her because of her name, then her beauty and got to know her because of her kindness and shyness.  Watching her grow through the years and come out of her shell was something I will always cherish.  I am a  huge supporter of lacrosse and encouraged all of my students to take up the sport, I always told them it didn’t matter your size or abilities, there was a place for you in the game.  I “broke some rules” and allowed the kids to bring their sticks to school to play some wall ball and toss the ball during recess.  I remember the day that Rumer came up to me, quietly, and told me she was playing lacrosse!  I was so excited and a little skeptical, Rumer had never shown me an interest in competition or aggression, lol.  She became such a beast on the field, I would go to her Halo games and we would talk about the games the following day.  Watching her grow with the game and mastering it during her high school and travel league teams was something I will always hold dear to my heart.  Rumer, your kindness, smile and love of the game will never be forgotten.  

I met Rumer when she first came to clinic as a new patient.  She had the most beautiful smile!  I will always remember it.  And, an adorable laugh.  Through it all, she kept her sense of humor!  Her bravery was astounding.  I felt as if she was an old soul and vastly mature.  We would always talk about silly things, trying to keep it light.  But, on occasion, our chats did become more serious.  Rumer was one of my favorite patient's.  I used to tell her she reminded me of what my daughter would look like when she grew up (they were 6 yrs apart), and that nothing would make me happier.  The last few times, I made sure she knew just how special she was.  She would come with her best friend, and to see the two of them together warmed my heart.  I was always talking about the "Spice Girls" shoes that her BFF wore.  I'd tell the girls, "back in the 90's, I wore them!"  The last time I saw them, I gave Rumer a massively long hug.  I suppose I knew deep down it may be the last time.  I am better for having met her, and she will forever be in my memory.  In my mind, she's forever laughing and enjoying the sunshine.  Many condolences to her family, especially her mom and grama.  Rumer will be greatly missed! Thank you for sharing her with us, and allowing us to take care of her the last couple of years! I didn't know Rumer well. I met her freshman year as she and  Jordan (my daughter) played against and with each other in lacrosse. They were both center mid's which put them in direct competition with each other in so many ways, yet they turned out to be the best of friends.  As the years went by, Rumer and Jordan would eventually land on the same club team and their friendship grew even stronger.  To watch them as teammates, and then later in the year, as opponents, hugging each other and buddying it up before and during the games, when they were supposed to be duking it out, was beautiful.  I'll never forget watching them battling back and forth, in between hugs, smiles and giggles.   Don't get me wrong, Rumer was there to compete and play hard ... But she also didn't lose site that there was more to this experience than winning and losing, and that was evident to all who watched.  Relationships, friendships .. even then, that's what clearly mattered most to her.

Rumer will be missed. She had such an impact on so many during her much too few years on this planet. 

My mom met Rumer during a chemo treatment sometime in July/August of 2018. I remember Mom talking with me. She said she was so beautiful and young. Mom loved her sweet disposition and would look for her when she would go for treatment (every Friday morning usually). She appreciated the conversations they shared. I usually met Mom there. I met Rumer sometime in August/September of 2018. I sat with her and we talked for quite awhile. I understood what Mom was talking about. I don't remember much of our conversations, but remember she was strong and loved. I also remember how she made me feel that day and remember wanting to visit with her again. As Mom and I left, I asked the reception if the next visit was light, if Mom could have two visitors so I could visit with Rumer (if she was there). :)  I visited with her one other time after that. And then Mom started getting worse. 
I shared my visit with Rumer the day it happened to my co-worker not knowing my co-worker/friend knew who Rumer was.  And since then she had been keeping an eye on Rumer through her friends. That is how I heard about Rumer passing. My friend heard through friends of Rumer's. 
Rumer was a beautiful young woman. She touched many lives. And left a positive imprint on many hearts. I feel very lucky to have been able to spend time with her. You raised a wonderful young woman.

Rumer.. one of the most down to earth, kind, and funny people I’ve ever known. Whenever I’m walking through a lush green path, blooming flowers, or see anything full of life and growth I think of her, because that’s what she was, lively and thriving. She’d been there when I was going through a difficult time and we talked a lot of lacrosse, stress, but most of all perseverance. Rumer was such a head/heart strong person, She took her time to really listen to you, and give her honest opinion that she thought would
help while also telling you to be the best you (badass you) She was the most beautiful soul I had the pleasure of knowing.  I’m at peace knowing you finally are too...you know she’s probably laxing it up and petting all the doggos, all the love girly

I can’t express what these memories of Rumer mean to me. Even though I cry it’s a good cry. She will live on through all of you and I can’t thank you all enough.

I had heard a lot of things about Rumer in my early lacrosse career, mostly pertaining to how great of an athlete she was. I didn't officially meet her until my 2nd year of club when I joined the the Lacrosse Northwest elite team. I was the only goalie and the only sophomore. Needless to say, I was extremely nervous to play up with the juniors and seniors. Rumer was welcoming, kind, inclusive, and made me feel no different than the rest of the girls. She was killer at the draw and played with such grace, something I will always admire. She pushed me to be a better athlete. 

Once I heard about her first diagnoses I was heartbroken, but I decided that from that day I would play for her. My team and I raised money for her at our tournament in Portland, and I even put a piece of tape on my helmet that said "P4RM" (Play for Rumer Morrison). The following high school season I put the same tape on my West Linn helmet. It was a reminder to push myself, to be a leader, and never hang my head. Now, I'm about to start my first year on the Cal-Berkeley women's lacrosse team, and I plan to continue to tape my helmet with Rumer's initials. This time as a tribute to an amazing leader and person, and a reminder to enjoy every second on the field and to appreciate the little things. Thank you Rumer, for showing kindness to a scared young sophomore, and for not only being an amazing teammate but friend as well. 

When I heard of Rumer passing away I had already been in Montana for a few days and was getting ready to move into my dorm and start my freshmen year. The few days that I had been there, the weather was so bad, I have never seen it rain as hard as it did, the sky was dark and there was thunderstorms almost everyday. The morning after she passed away, the sky was so blue, the sun was out and there was not a single cloud in the sky for as far as I could see.  I know this seems so insignificant and easily explainable, but to me, I know that it was Rumer letting us know that she was finally at peace and resting. Rumer was one of my closest friends. Of course I could talk about all the memories that I have with her and Colby, but instead I want to share the impact that Rumer continues to have on me. Being here at school alone and hundreds of miles away from my friends and family has been hard, as I feel like I have a hard time making new friends.  Every single time I get into a situation where I get to talk and meet new people, I think of Rumers kindness, her sense of humor, her ability to make her voice heard and how she genuinely cared about how each and every person she met and I ask myself how she would act/ what she would do.  I know that Rumer is here with me, and to all that were close with her, I know she still is by your side too. I wish I had gotten the chance to thank you for everything you taught me. Often Rumer and I joked about how she was like a mom to me, even though I was only two years different in age it couldn't have been more accurate. I'm glad I got to call you an older sister, a mom and a best friend, I love you and I'll see you soon:)

This is just a lacrosse story, one small facet of Rumer's life, but wanted to share it. I  first encountered Rumer in Spring 2016, my initial year as head coach of Liberty High School's girls' varsity lacrosse team.  Century High - Rumer's team - was a Northwest Oregon Conference league rival, made even more interesting by the fact that most Liberty and Century players came out of the same youth lacrosse program and knew each other well.   We had a really strong midfield and were a bit deeper team, but the first time we played Century it was incredibly difficult for us to even get the ball because Rumer won almost every damn draw!  The Century bench was in full voice, singing Adele's "Rumor Has It" every time Rumer won the draw, definitely getting in my player's heads.  Finally took a time out and advised my players if they didn't want to hear any more Adele then perhaps we should make some adjustments and get the ball away from Rumer.  My team was just good enough to defensively double and sometimes triple her, we figured if she passed the ball to a teammate it was better than if the ball was in Rumer's stick (though Alexis Petrov challenged that theory).  After we barely defeated Century in that first game, we had special "Rumer practices" with our midfield just focusing on how to counter her on the draw and not allow Century to get ball possession all the time - Rumer was that good.  Players like Rumer Morrison are a force on the field and raise the game for their teammates and opposing players.  If you never got a chance to see her play, you missed something special.

Dear Trysh, Chance, and family,
My heart feels broken over the passing of beautiful Rumer.  I did not know Rumer as the wonderful young woman she had become. I knew the little girl Rumer who came to my rubber stamping classes with her Aunt Lynn, my good friend. I wanted to share with you something that both Rumer and Chance taught me about creativity all those years ago at my classes. I wanted people to make the project just like mine, but invariably Rumer and Chance, when he would come, would change up my design just slightly to make it their own. At first, I felt irritated that they did not “follow the directions” and would veer off course. My ego wanted everyone to make my project. Then, I saw the enjoyment they got by making the projects their own and I put my pride away and let them just have fun and create. Rumer often had her own idea of how she wanted to make her project and many times her creativity actually made my projects better. What I learned from both Rumer and Chance at those classes is that no matter how the teacher sample looks, we can always take a project and use our own creativity and ideas and turn it into our own. This was such a great and pivotal lesson for me to learn from a spirited, creative child and it has stayed with me all these years. I have often done just that and allowed myself to veer off course at creative classes, workshops and retreats. In fact I am working on a project right now and I am not following all the directions…because Rumer showed me it’s OK to use my own creativity, tweak the project, and make it my own. I’m grateful I got to learn that lesson from some really great kids. I am so, so sorry that Rumer is no longer here on this earth. I will cherish my fond memories of her. I know in time your hearts won’t hurt quite so much. Love is eternal and never dies; your love for Rumer lives on and her love for you will always be with you. I hope in time your fond memories will bring you much comfort and peace.

Rumer was an amazing inspiration to our daughter Kai during her first year of Lacrosse for HALO. She has extremely fond memories and was heartbroken to hear the news of Rumer's passing, as were her mother and I. While we did not get to know Rumer for very long, her infectious positive attitude made a lasting impression on Kai and it was a pleasure watching her pass on her love of the game to our daughter. Rest well Rumer.

Always and forever Rumer! You will forever be in our hearts, thoughts, smiles and memories! Thank you for being such an amazing human and best friend to Alexis! There will never be anyone like you!

Rumer left such a legacy on the lacrosse field. I’m so blessed that I had the opportunity to coach with her and to see her share her love for lacrosse to so many other girls. From running lines with the girls to teaching them basic fundamentals to learning how to do a cartwheel, she brought so much joy and laughter to everyone who was around her. Rumer, we are going to miss you and thank you for inspiring us to be better. 

I have so many photos. Hard to choose. Thanks to everyone for sharing memories of her ones I hope you never forget. Man this is so hard. I miss my girlie. I lOVE you Rumer.  Hope to see all on SEPT 15th.

I consider Rumer to be one of my closest friends, ever since our first year playing lacrosse against each other and then with each other in LAX NW. I always looked up to her, she was so beautiful and talented at what she did. There was something about her that drew everyone to her, it made everyone want to be close with her. In another lifetime, everything would have worked out differently and Rumer and I would have been roommates and teammates at CSU Pueblo. Sometimes I sit and wonder how different life would be if I had still had her constant, wonderful influence in my life. I miss you Rumer, you have been an inspiration to me in life and lacrosse. I don’t believe I would be where I am today if I hadn’t become close with you and you taught me everything you knew about the draw. Miss you and love you sweetie!

When I moved to Oregon and had my first couple days at Ladd I quickly became friends with Rumer and Colby and we had some amazing times together. I remember going over to Rumer’s house one time and we spent hours on her trampoline and just playing in the back yard. She was so beautiful and smart and I always looked up to her. When I moved back to California that was probably one of the hardest times in my life because I had to leave my best friends. But the only thing that made me feel at peace with everything was the fact that I knew Colby had an AMAZING friend like Rumer to have her back. Rumer you are light and you are love. We will miss you always ❤️

My favorite memory of Rumer happened to be just a few months ago. I saw her in the flower store called Al’s on Mother’s Day. It was a really brief interaction but I got to see her smile. I’ve never seen such a genuine and joyful smile in my entire life, she said hello to me and then asked how I was doing. I don’t know why this is the memory that I think of when I think of Rumer. But I do know that her blog posts and way of life really impacted me. She taught me to live my life like there IS a tomorrow. She taught me to be genuine, honest, and to have a love for the life that I’ve got. She left an imprint on my heart that keeps me genuine and calm, even when life gets hard. Our problems are so minuscule, life is just a lot better when you focus on the good of it rather than the imperfections and pain. I miss Rumer a lot, but I know she’s in heaven smiling the same way she did down here. 

Rumer and I have been friends since Middle school but didn’t get too close till high school. She had always had a strength about her that always loved and naturally felt drawn to. Rumer was always sassy, kind, and had a huge heart. Rumer made me laugh when I was sad and was honest at all times. It really pains me that her life was cut so short just when things were going to turn around for her. She’ll forever be in my heart. 

Rumer and I weren’t as close as some of the other people writing on here but she was close with some of my good friends and they always talked so highly of her. Rumer was the type of person that lit up the room as soon as they walked in. She was always a positive person and a role model to many, so for that I say thank you Rumer for all you’ve done and for shining your light on all of us, you will be missed by so many. We will all see each other again one day but until then, I’ll  see you later. Much love - Raven

Rumer was like a big sister to me. I cherished every moment I got to spend with her and Colby throughout high school. They were always so kind to me and took me under their wing when I felt like I didn't have many other friends. No matter how my day was going Rumer seemed to make it better. She always made me laugh whether it was from us making the office jokes, her dorky dance moves, or just the three of us being weirdos. I remember her and Colby would take me to Wendys, and Rumer and I had a shared love of ranch. I thought nobody could love ranch as much as I did, until I saw her lick out the remains of the ranch container that she had been using. Her laugh and her smile when she saw the reaction on my face were priceless. I think she had the warmest, brightest, cutest laugh and smile that I’ve ever seen. I am sure she is somewhere right now having all the ranch she could possibly ever want. I am so grateful for all the time that I was able to spend with her. She is the biggest inspiration in my life.

It’s crazy how people take life for granted but I know she didn’t she fulfilled every aspect of what life has to offer. Even though I didn’t know her on a personal level she was still very much my friend and an inspiration to me. A memory I have with her June 8th at Class of 2019 Graduation when everyone was on the field with the graduates. I remember sharply making eye contact with Rumer and I smiled and she smiled back. Then I said in my head “I need to get a picture with her before I leave” I realized her circumstances and all the challenges she’d  over come being able to write a book after about her journey that inspired me. I had to get a picture with her; but I was  afraid and shy to approach her. Now that Rumer is not here with us I wish I had that confidence back then to approach her and asked. Rumer is at a much better place now looking over us. May Allah bless her soul and her loved ones. -Taofiq Rahmon

Rumer and I have known each other since my first year of middle school.  She was a welcoming face that always had my back. Her soul was so pure and her smile was so bright. She was by far the toughest girl I know. She will be missed by SO many. Rest easy sweet girl. 

i remember when rumer came to me on my first day of lacrosse practice and i was super worried and she said “don’t worry. i’ll be there for you the whole time.” she always told me stories during lacrosse practice about how she got the most yellow cards. later that night, i spent 2 hours making a trophy for her just because i wanted a special thank you since she helped me not feel lonely the day i was so afraid of. she is so kind, beautiful, strong, determined, smart,
cunning, loyal friend anyone can ever had. she trusted me with her secrets and so did i. that shows her kindness between her and someone who was so much younger than her. i love her so much and i miss her but i know and i pray that i will see her once again in heaven. i only knew her for 2 years, but she always promised me that she would be there for me always. i prayed the night i found out and i know for a fact that she is looking down on all her friends and smiling. 

One of my favorite memories with Rumer was both of us being apart of the Ladd Acres talent show in the 2nd Grade. I went right after her where she sang Freak Out by Avril Lavigne and I sang tomorrow from Annie. She made me a huge fan of Avril Lavigne after this. But it was such a funny juxtaposition between Avril Lavigne and then right after I come on singing a musical showtune. I think Trysh or Rumer’s Grandma took this cute photo of us waiting our turn to go perform. Rumer was one of my first crushes back in 2nd grade when she transferred to Ladd. I had the biggest crush on her for probably 2 years after that. She was always smiling and positive. I always had so much fun spending hours at her house, baking cookies, playing hide n seek, and jumping on the trampoline. I loved celebrating my birthdays with Colby and Rumer where we would go to the movie theater and take pictures at the photobooth. I will always regret not reaching out and spending more time with her when she was at WOU. I will miss her immensely
